Why You Should Care About Mountain Top Coal Mining in W. Virginia

Watch this Youtube video about mountain top coal mining. It’s the classic scenario of wealthy corporations extracting “resources” to feed our petrochemical energy needs while sacrificing all living things in their wake. Most of the time this is happening adjacent to poor people that don’t have the money or clout to fight them. And, what’s worse–our regulatory agencies, such as the DEP and EPA tell the people that they couldn’t possibly be dying from those chemicals (in this case in their drinking water) because they couldn’t be getting into their well water because they are supposedly the requisite distance (1/4 mile away) from the well.

You won’t believe the cafeteria sized tray of prescription drugs that one man has to take in order to stay alive. And, as he says, it won’t be for long because no one can live with that many toxic chemicals in their body. So sad. This needs to stop.

Please feel free to comment after you’ve seen it and let me know what YOU think. Click on the link below to play the Youtube video (it’ll take you to my Youtube channel, Amy Todisco)
