Imagine you’re driving into the Mad River Valley to attend one of our summer retreats at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm. You’ll notice a distinct lack of stop lights, billboards, and fast food joints along the way. You might even take a deep breath just driving over the border into Vermont. I still do, and I’ve lived here for 15 years. Often I still feel like I’m on vacation.

There’s something magical about Vermont– particularly the Mad River Valley. And, it’s not just the vibrant green landscape, the working farms with red barns and black and white cows, or the beautiful mountain ranges. Somehow we still retain some of the wonderful aspects of times gone by. Neighbors help neighbors and visitors alike here. As a former NYC girl, I was shocked to experience this first hand. People will help you just because it feels good to help.

Fresh, local food is king here. Often you’ll catch a glimpse of our Valley farmers delivering to the schools, inns, restaurants, and local stores. In fact, one of my early retreat goers moved here from Rhode Island largely because she saw my partner Dave, a local organic farmer, delivering produce to a school. She saw him in the documentary about the Mad River Valley, “Almost There”.

During our five days together you will unwind, reconnect with yourself, with others, and with the land. You’ll experience a slower pace, eat fantastic, fresh, organic food, and spend time on a working organic farm. Learn some organic gardening skills with one of Vermont’s most popular and experienced organic farmers. Feed chickens, collect eggs, and harvest vegetables for a dinner that we prepare for ourselves one night. Breathe in the fresh air, take a hike, swim in the river. Learn some new healthy living skills, like mindfulness, or just be reminded of what you already know and put it into practice. Get a therapeutic massage. Create a vision board/life map to help visualize what you want your life to look like. Take an herb walk and create an herbal healing kit to take home. You’ll spend a day learning about yourself through the eyes of horses as your life coaches, with the assistance of two human life coaches. Get the support and tools that you need to make the changes you’ve been dreaming about.
