About Green Living Now™

Green Living Now™, LLC, is a unique woman owned,
organic and natural products online store, based in
the beautiful green mountains of northern Vermont.

Rather than trying to be a green products "super store",
I've chosen to only sell the products that have passed
my strict criteria, and that I use myself. I look at ingredients
first--nothing toxic, or suspected of being toxic. Why take
any chances when safer alternatives exist? And, ideally no
synthetic chemicals at all. I favor certified organic over just
natural.

Then I look at performance. Does it work? If not, I'll
pass. What about the packaging? Recyclable? Then, yes.
What's the company's social and environmental record? Are
they listed with the national nonprofit, Coop America, like
Green Living Now™ is? Coop America screens companies
for their social and environmental responsibility.

Like many of you, I want my purchases to reflect
my values. We know that what we spend our hard earned
dollars on can help to bring about positive change. I want
to be part of this positive change, both as a consumer and
a retailer.

But how do you know which products are really
the good ones? Labels are misleading and inaccurate.
Products aren't tested for their potential health effects. There
are so many products marketed as "natural" and "nontoxic".
Most of them aren't any better than the conventional brands.
Same synthetic (and often toxic) chemicals, and just a few
added herbs and natural ingredients. That's where Green Living Now™ comes in.

I've spent the past 14+ years researching products and the companies that make them. During most of that time, I was wearing the "hats" of a mom, a community activist, and an environmental health nonprofit leader. I started the retail version of Green Living Now™ in June 2004 so that I could make the products that I'd been recommending as a nonprofit leader available to you more easily. Repeatedly people would ask me, where can I get that dish soap, shampoo, water filter, that you recommend?
